New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to hold a significant meeting with its 70 candidates at 11:30 am today. This meeting is particularly interesting given that assembly election results will be declared on February 8, and allegations of horse-trading by AAP MLAs are surfacing.
Amid exit polls predicting a BJP victory, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of attempting to lure AAP candidates with money and ministerial posts. Taking to social media platform X, Kejriwal alleged that 16 AAP candidates received calls offering ₹15 crore each to switch sides.
“Some agencies claim the ‘Gali Galoch party’ (referring to BJP) will get over 55 seats. Then why are they calling our candidates? These fake surveys are meant to create pressure, but none of our people will break.” To all this, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, supported Kejriwal’s statements. The BJP has strongly denied the claims.
P-MARQ predicts BJP to win 39-49 seats while AAP is expected to secure 21-31 and Congress remains the same later at 0-1. Meanwhile, WeePreside suggests AAP could secure 46-52 seats, BJP 18-23, and Congress 0-1. Another survey places the BJP at 51-60 seats, signaling a possible sweep.
AAP has dominated the last two Delhi Assembly elections, but a BJP resurgence could reshape the capital’s political landscape. With both parties trading accusations, all eyes are now on February 8 when the final results will be revealed.
