Amid rising tensions in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has increased vigilance along the Indo-Bangla border. Representing the recent threats and violent situations evolving in Bangladesh consigned to India with particular emphasis to Tripura, which possesses a long and sensitive border with the neighboring nation, it acted out in response to recent turmoil. Thus, the BSF took preventive measures to ensure peace and stability and to resist any possible spillover of violence into India.
On December 2, the situation took an alarming turn when an incident occurred at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala lodging fears in Tripura. The state borders Bangladesh on three sides and is especially sensitive to developments across the border on account of the deep cultural and social ties it shares with Bangladesh. The BSF had increased its patrols or monitoring along the border as part of precautions against threats to the nation.
Border Security Force is blessed from time to time with dedicated personnel such as Constable Riyanka Mukherjee, who mentioned that this force is empowering women and instilling confidence in them for security roles. Mukherjee described the long and arduous four-year journey with the BSF to uphold border integrity and gain security for all people. Another constable confirmed his statement, as Mukuriya Ila mentioned- “She is proud to be a constable and is satisfied, despite hurdles surmounted and family tension.”
J.C. Baidya, the Second-in-Command from the BSF, confirmed that more soldiers have been sent in to boost the security, saying- “BSF remains on high alert at all times, responding to any untoward situation.”
