16 May New Delhi: Congress veteran Rajya Sabha MP P. Chidambaram is skeptical about the unity of the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A., and opines that the coalition seems to be on the decline.
Addressing the launch function of the book Contesting Democratic Deficit, written by Salman Khurshid and Mritunjay Singh Yadav, Chidambaram stated that the alliance is “frayed” and questioned its effectiveness now.
In a singular recognition, Chidambaram had called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a “formidable” political force, observing the party’s tight organizational network in different departments.
He stressed that to foil the BJP’s strong machinery, the opposition needs to stay united and intensify its efforts.
Chidambaram also emphasized that the alliance must continue to hold together and be assertive, saying that there is still time available to join together and stand up unitedly against the BJP in the coming elections.
