Jan 28, Tuesday 2025, Uttar Pradesh: A makeshift stage collapsed at ‘Nirvana Laddu Parv’ of the first Tirthankara in Jainism, Bhagwan Adinath in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat today.
The collapse led to the death of at least five people. Several others including Jain disciples and police personnel were injured when the makeshift stage collapsed.
This incident caused chaos and panic on the site and several devotees were injured due to the collapse.
Rescue operations were undertaken on Tuesday morning to bring out those who were trapped under the stage. The authorities have sprung into action.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took notice of the incident and issued directives to the local district authorities to relieve the affected people. He has also wished for the recovery of those who were injured during the unexpected mishap.
Magistrate of Baghpat District Magistrate, Asmita Lal and Superintendent of Police, Arpit Vijayvargiya rushed to the district hospital to know the condition of the affected. According to reports, SP Arpit Vijayvargiya said “A ‘machaan’ (makeshift platform collapsed during the ‘Laddu Mahotsav’ program of the Jain community in Baraut. As per the information coming in, about 20-25 people were injured. Some had general injuries and received first aid before being sent home. 2-3 people are seriously injured, and are undergoing treatment in nearby hospitals”
The chief of the Samajwadi party posted on X reacting to this incident.
