February 12, Lucknow: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by a Lucknow court in connection with his alleged remarks against the Indian Army during his countrywide ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha has been asked to appear before the Lucknow MP MLA court in March.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alok Verma, issued the summons to the Congress MP for the alleged statements regarding the army. The Congress leader has been directed to present his side at the next hearing scheduled for March 24.
After Uday Shankar Srivastava the development comes, the former Director of Border Road Organization (BRO), filed a complaint against Gandhi based on which a case was registered, the report said.
The complainant’s lawyer, Vivek Tiwari, informed the court that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra on December 16, 2022, Rahul Gandhi made a controversial statement before the media. However, the army had criticized the Congress leader’s statements. The complainant later on said that Rahul Gandhi’s “false statement” had led people to “question and mock army officers,” according to some reports.
