Feb 8, Saturday, 2025: As of February 8, 2025, the Delhi Assembly elections have concluded, with voting held on February 5 and results will be declared today. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, has been unseated after a decade in power, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a majority in the 70-member assembly. This shift marks a significant change in Delhi’s political landscape.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be racing ahead in early trends, with its candidates leading on over 40 seats an hour after the Election Commission began counting votes at 8 am.
The BJP’s campaign focused on allegations of corruption against AAP leaders, including the arrest of Kejriwal and other key figures on bribery charges. Despite AAP’s denial of these allegations, labeling them political conspiracies, the BJP’s narrative appears to have resonated with voters.
