28 April, Solapur: There has been a huge development in the suicide case of celebrated neurophysician Dr. Shirish Valsangkar, who left the city of Solapur stunned. The Solapur Sessions Court has awarded judicial custody to the accused, Manisha Musale-Mane, for 14 days.
In the suicide case of well-known neurologist Dr. Shirish Valsangkar, following the arrest of the accused Manisha Mane-Musale, there has been a heated debate in the city regarding her background and lifestyle since she was an administrative officer in Valsangkar Hospital. Manisha began working in Dr. Valsangkar’s hospital and within a couple of days became like a part of the family. She was later promoted to a senior role soon after, so they say.
Dr. Valsangkar mentioned in his suicide note that he was killing himself due to A. O. Mane-Musale, so a complaint had been lodged by Dr. Valsangkar’s son, Dr. Ashwin. Her police arrest occurred late on the night of Saturday. As much talk as there was going about how such an extreme action had been taken by such a composed and smart doctor, the breaking news came up regarding the arrest of Manisha Mane-Musale. As a result, those who knew Manisha began passing on information about her.
Following the police custody, the investigation officers, during the production of her appearance in court, sought her judicial custody, retaining the right to request a custody extension. Chief Judicial Magistrate Vikramsingh Bhandari issued the order after listening to the prosecution.
Allegations Made by Hospital Staff Against Manisha Mane
Following Dr. Valsangkar’s suicide, some hospital staff members lodged serious complaints against Manisha Mane. Based on these complaints, the Solapur police have strengthened their investigation. Complaints of the complainant Dr. Ashwin Valsangkar, Dr. Shonali Valsangkar, and other concerned persons are being recorded. The police are hopeful that a detailed investigation will soon uncover the actual reason behind the suicide.
Dr. Valsangkar: A Brilliant Life with a Tragic End
69-year-old Dr. Shirish Valsangkar was among the most prominent neurology specialists in the nation. He founded the ‘S.P. Institute of Neurosciences’ in Solapur, which proved to be an oasis of hope for thousands of patients from neighboring areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana.
Dr. Valsangkar graduated from Dayanand College, Solapur, and received his MBBS from Dr. V.M. Medical College, Solapur. He then earned an MRCP (UK) degree from the Royal College of Physicians, London.
The Dark Day of April 18
On the evening of April 18, Dr. Valsangkar came home after seeing patients. Shortly afterwards, there was a gunshot from his bedroom bathroom. Two shots were discharged, and the family rushed in to see him bleeding profusely.
Dr. Ashwin Valsangkar, Dr. Shonali, and other colleagues straightaway admitted him to the hospital, but after 75 minutes of attempts, the doctors failed to save him. Dr. Shirish Valsangkar was pronounced dead at 10:20 PM.
Police Investigation is In Progress
Now the police investigation is proceeding at a full pace. The facts regarding Manisha Mane’s involvement are being thoroughly scrutinized. All records, emails, and call records are being probed. It is hoped by the authorities that the truth will be revealed soon.
