Feb 28, Friday, Bhopal: A five-year-old girl from Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, is battling for her life after being brutally raped and assaulted by a 17-year-old neighbor. The horrific incident, which occurred on February 22, has left the child in critical condition, undergoing multiple surgeries in a Gwalior hospital ICU.
According to police, the accused lured the girl from her home’s terrace to a nearby abandoned house, where he subjected her to sexual assault and physical violence for over two hours. The assailant repeatedly banged her head against the wall, leaving her unconscious and bleeding profusely. Bite marks and severe injuries covered her tiny body when she was discovered in a pool of blood.
The girl’s younger brother and other children witnessed the crime and raised an alarm, causing the accused to flee. Family members and neighbors rushed her to the hospital, where doctors were horrified by the extent of her injuries. Initial surgeries were performed to address intestinal and genital damage, but her condition remains extremely critical, requiring further medical intervention. The five-year-old girl is battling for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kamala Raja Hospital of MP’s Gwalior.
Despite the odds, the child has shown remarkable resilience, stabilizing her vitals with the help of dedicated medical care. However, her fight for survival is far from over.
The barbaric crime has sparked widespread outrage in the region. Hundreds of locals, along with BJP and Congress members, marched to the Shivpuri collectorate, demanding the death penalty for the accused. The incident has reignited debates over juvenile crime and the need for stricter laws to protect children.
Police have identified the accused six months short of 18 and are investigating the case. The community remains shocked, rallying around the family while calling for swift justice.
