Shimla, February 3: The Himachal Pradesh Government has in principle agreed to implement a common cadre system for specialist doctors in all medical colleges and super specialty institutions throughout the state. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said the initiative is aimed at strengthening medical education and healthcare service delivery in the state.
At present, faculty recruitment is done based on individual colleges which creates administrative problems and Staff shortages in the recently set up medical colleges. The common cadre system is expected to resolve these problems by creating a uniform system of recruitment, optimal utilization of resources, and promotion of faculty based on performance. The CM was categorical on the fact that this policy will improve the concentration of resources on medical education and the health services available in government institutions.
He added that the government is committed to medical services through faculty recruitment, training, and conditions of service. The new system is expected to create a more balanced and fair structure for medical professionals while ensuring quality education for future doctors.
BJP to Boycott MLA Priority Meeting
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to boycott the upcoming MLA priority meeting scheduled for February 3 and 4. Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur stated that the Sukhu-led government has ignored BJP MLAs’ demands over the past two years and has been harassing opposition leaders through alleged false cases.
Jairam Thakur accused the government of neglecting BJP MLAs in various developmental projects and sidelining them during inauguration events. He alleged that instead of elected representatives, Congress leaders who were rejected by the public were being given undue importance.
In protest against this alleged discrimination, the BJP has announced a complete boycott of the priority meeting, questioning its significance when their concerns are ignored.
