24 Jan 2025, State Bureau, Chandigarh: Economically disadvantaged women in the Haryana state are set to benefit from the Lado Laxmi Yojana starting in April. A provision for this scheme will be included in the annual budget, which Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present in March.
Under the scheme, women with an annual income of less than ₹1.8 lakh will receive ₹2,100 per month directly into their bank accounts. The scheme was discussed during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, chaired by Chief Minister Saini. Addressing delays in disbursing the funds, it was decided to prioritize the scheme in the upcoming budget.
Government Prepares for CET and Addresses Temporary Employees’ Concerns
The Chief Minister announced that the state is prepared to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET) after board examinations to ensure maximum participation. Addressing concerns about temporary employees affected by the recruitment of 24,000 permanent staff, Saini assured that the government would prioritize these employees in future hiring processes.
Relief for Double Pension Recovery
In a significant relief to employees receiving double pension benefits, the government has waived a one-year recovery amount totaling ₹1.47 crore. This decision impacts 361 employees from departments like MITC, Kanfed, and Haryana Mineral Limited. Earlier, these employees were granted pensions after the age of 60, but a rule permitting only one pension led to disputes.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to resolving issues affecting workers and ensuring financial aid for economically weaker sections. The decisions aimed to address concerns raised by the opposition while focusing on public welfare.
