January 3: Gautam Gambhir slammed, Rohit didn’t opt to rest but was removed from this test. Many fans and game experts were shocked when he was not announced in the playing XI for the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney on Friday.

India has announced their pacer Jasprit Bumrah as their acting captain for the final test of the Five-Test Match series. The hosts have already gained a 2-1 lead after winning the fourth match held in Melbourne by 184 runs. Earlier in this Test Rohit Sharma faced immense criticism, saying he didn’t take responsibility for the team’s actions when they lost the match and also his poor batting skills being an experienced player.

When the captains were called for a toss, Bumrah stated that Rohit Sharma had opted to rest this match, however, this statement sparked debate amongst many former cricketers, and one of the former Australian pace, Mark Taylor came to speak about this issue when he completely disagreed with the Bumrah’s statement and said that no captain will choose to retest in the final match of the series when the results of the series haven’t been declared yet.

Taylor stated on triple M cricket,” To be honest that’s, what do I call a that. That’s once again, sidestepping the point. The bottom line is the captain of the country doesn’t opt out for the final test of the match, the final deciding test match of the series”.

Rohit had sat out after the game after scoring 31 runs in 5 innings with 3 tests in which he did not stand out a lot of netizens questioned his abilities online.
