The airport was initially expected to handle 50-55 million passengers annually, but the exact capacity is not specified in the latest updates. The airport’s terminal area will be 250,000 m2, and the cargo area will be 100,00 m2. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) gave its clearance for the airport on 14th May 2008.
