PM Modi’s Motion of Thanks Speech 2025: Vision for a Viksit Bharat

February 6, Thursday 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha, replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, where he launched a scathing attack on the opposition party, Congress for its “family first” policy.

The PM emphasized that his government believes in the policy of “nation first” and “SABKA SATH, SABKA VIKAS.” The Prime Minister also criticized the Congress for having “hatred and anger” towards B R Ambedkar and not giving due recognition. He spoke on the following points:

Economic Progress

The Prime Minister emphasized India’s significant economic advancements over the past decade, noting the country’s rise from the 10th to the 5th largest economy globally. He confidently projected that in the government’s anticipated third term, India would become the world’s third-largest economic power, stating, “This is Modi’s guarantee.”

Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare

Highlighting the government’s commitment to social welfare, PM Modi reported that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the last decade. He attributed this success to initiatives such as providing 50 crore individuals with bank accounts, constructing 4 crore houses for the poor, and ensuring 11 crore families have access to clean drinking water through tap connections. Additionally, over 55 crore people have received Ayushman Bharat health cards and 80 crore individuals benefited from free grain distribution.

Empowerment of Women and Self-Help Groups

Modi lauded the role of women’s self-help groups in bolstering the rural economy, noting that these groups comprise over 10 crore members. He announced plans to create”Lakhpati Didis” women who have achieved significant financial success through these initiatives. He highlighted the increased participation of women in sectors like defense where they are flying fighter jets and protecting the nation’s borders.

Agricultural Development

PM Modi underscored the government’s effort to support farmers, mentioning the increase in the annual agricultural budget from ₹25,000 crores during previous administrations to ₹1.25 lakh crores currently. He detailed financial support measures, including ₹2.8 lakh crores under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and ₹1.5 lakh crores under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana. The establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and the issuance of PM Kisan Credit Cards to fishermen and cattle herders were also brought forth.

Vision for the Future

Looking forward, the Prime Minister expressed affirmation of the capabilities of India’s 140 crore citizens.
