Jan 30, Thursday New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 77th death anniversary.
Expressing tributes on X, PM Modi wrote, “Tributes to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. His ideals motivate us to build a developed India. I also pay tributes to all those martyred for our nation and recall their service as well as sacrifices.”
Amit Shah, Union Minister, also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. He stated that his thoughts towards cleanliness, self-reliance, and empowerment of rural India will continue to inspire the countrymen.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday led the nation in paying homage to Gandhi. President Murmu laid a wreath at Gandhi’s memorial Rajghat. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, PM Modi, and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Manohar Lal Khattar, among others, paid floral tribute to the martyr.
Amit Shah posted in Hindi on X saying, ” On behalf of the grateful nation, I pay my tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the leading figure of the Indian freedom movement, who popularised the Indian values of truth, non-violence, and fight against injustice across the world, on his death anniversary. Mahatma Gandhi strengthened the freedom movement by binding the country in the thread of unity. His thoughts towards cleanliness, self-reliance and empowerment of rural India will continue to inspire the countrymen.”
Mahatma Gandhi, the most prominent person in the face of India’s freedom struggle movement was assassinated on this day by NathuramGodse on January 30, 1948. Hence, 30 Jan is observed as Martyrs’ Day, also known as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ or ‘Sarvodaya Day’, across the country to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
