A massive multi-agency response is now in motion, with teams from the Indian Army, Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local rescue units working tirelessly to reach the stranded workers.

According to the office of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, state ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao have been deployed to the site and are closely monitoring the rescue efforts. The collapse, which took place just four days after construction had resumed following a long hiatus, has raised concerns about safety standards and the structural integrity of the project.

The trapped individuals include Manoj Kumar, a project engineer from Uttar Pradesh; Srinivas, a field engineer from Uttar Pradesh; and workers Sandeep Sahu, Jataks, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu, all from Jharkhand. Additionally, Sunny Singh from Jammu & Kashmir and Gurpreet Singh from Punjab are also among those stuck inside the debris-laden tunnel.

Rescue teams are facing immense challenges due to the nature of the collapse and the confined space of the tunnel. Efforts are being made to establish contact with the trapped workers while specialized equipment is used to clear debris and create a safe passage for their extraction. Officials have assured that every possible measure is being taken to bring the workers out safely.

The SLBC tunnel is a crucial infrastructure project aimed at improving water supply and irrigation in the region. However, this collapse has raised concerns regarding construction safety and oversight mechanisms. The Telangana government has ordered a detailed inquiry into the circumstances leading to the accident, as concerns mount over potential negligence or lapses in quality control.
