Islamabad, May 15: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned India firmly, saying, “We are ready for both war and peace; India has to decide.” This follows India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and Operation Sindoor against terrorist camps in Pakistan.
Sharif reiterated, “If you cut off our water, it’s a red line. Water is our right. Our army will fight for our rights.”
As regards the issue of Kashmir, Sharif urged resolution on the basis of United Nations resolutions and declared that trade negotiations would only advance after resolving the dispute.
On the Pahalgam terror attack, Sharif offered Pakistan’s readiness to be part of any “neutral, transparent, and credible” investigation.
India had temporarily suspended the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 22 Pahalgam terror strike and carried out Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan.
