Shocking Gangrape of Israeli Tourist and Homestay Manager in Karnataka; Probe Underway

March 7, Karnataka: In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves across Karnataka, two women, including a 27-year-old Israeli tourist, were gang-raped near the popular tourist destination of Hampi. The crime, which occurred between 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM on Thursday night, also involved the brutal assault of their male companions, one of whom is still missing.

According to police reports, the victims were attacked on the banks of Sanapur Lake, located about 4 kilometers from Hampi. The Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old female manager of a local homestay were sexually assaulted by unidentified miscreants. The attackers also pushed a male tourist from Odisha into the Tungabhadra canal, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Two other male tourists, one from the US and another from Maharashtra, were injured in the assault.

The survivors are currently receiving treatment at a government hospital, while a special police team has been deployed to track down the perpetrators. The crime spot, Sanapur Lake, is a major attraction for foreign tourists, raising concerns about safety in the region.

A case has been registered at the Gangavati Rural Police Station under multiple sections of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS), including theft, robbery, rape, gang rape, and attempted murder. The FIR states that the incident occurred while the victims were enjoying music near the lake.

This heinous crime has highlighted the urgent need for enhanced security measures at tourist hotspots. Authorities are under pressure to ensure justice for the victims and prevent such incidents in the future. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
