A war of words broke out between the BJP and AAP after the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) filed a case against Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. The BJP said that the ACB should also investigate the role of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the classroom construction scam.
The AAP responded by saying, “It’s now clear that the BJP government is not interested in real work. All they do is file one false case after another against Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders.”
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, “Today is an important day in the fight of Delhi’s people against the corruption of the Aam Aadmi Party and its outgoing government.”
He added that the ACB has started an investigation into former ministers Sisodia and Jain, who are accused of being involved in a scam related to building classrooms. He also said that when Arvind Kejriwal came to power in 2015, he began many corrupt practices. The BJP had started raising concerns back then.
Sachdeva pointed out that in 2015-16, the Kejriwal government set aside ₹2,892 crore to build 12,748 classrooms in government schools. This means each classroom costs around ₹24.86 lakh. But according to CPWD guidelines, it should have cost only around ₹5 lakh per classroom.
AAP leaders responded by mocking the BJP. “They are filing cases for silly reasons. Soon they may say, ‘Why was Sisodia sitting on a government chair?’ or ‘Why didn’t he put a comma or full stop in a document?’ That’s how ridiculous this has become.”
The AAP also said the BJP has no plans to govern in the next five years. “They just want to put on a show—one day it’s a case, the next day a raid. It’s no coincidence that right after Durgesh Pathak was made Sah-Prabhari of Gujarat, a case was filed, and his house was raided. The same happened when Sisodia and Jain were given roles in Punjab—fresh cases were filed.”
The party called it a political vendetta. “They are trying to scare and stop AAP. But we are not afraid of their fake cases or the ED and CBI investigations,” said AAP leaders.
