January 16, Thursday, New Delhi: 3 India-based nuclear entities are no more on the US restrictions list. The three entities under the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) are the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the Indira Gandhi Atomic Research Centre (IGCAR), and the Indian Rare Earths (IRE).

On Wednesday, the United States removed restrictions on the nuclear entities, after a week when National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced that Washington was finalizing steps to remove the civil partnership between the two states.

This is also the background in the history Civil Nuclear Agreement, also known as the 123 Agreement, which was initiated in July 2005 during a meeting between former PM Manmohan Singh and President George Bush. It was finalized in 2008 after intense negotiations, safeguarding the Atomic Energy Agency.
