Following a fatal terrorist strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, relations between India and Pakistan became extremely strained. A large number of Indian soldiers were killed, and in retaliation, India took drastic measures. The Indian Army invaded Pakistan and eliminated 9 terror camps, killing approximately 40 terrorists. This operation was named “Operation Sindoor.”
After this, Pakistan suggested a ceasefire at the military level (DGMO meeting), and India agreed, but with some conditions. A ceasefire was announced between the two countries. However, this decision started a political debate in India, especially in Bihar.
In Patna, the Congress party put up posters that increased the political heat. One poster said: “Salute to Mother India, not everyone can be Indira Gandhi!” The poster also showed Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar. Congress was trying to say that the current government is not as strong as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who defeated Pakistan in the 1971 war.
Independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, also criticized the government. On social media, he said: “Ceasefire is okay, but it should be on India’s terms. We should not let the U.S. act like our boss.” He questioned why the U.S. announced the ceasefire first and asked if India is now under foreign pressure.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh replied to this and said, “India takes decisions based on its strength. We are proud of our Army and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He also told people to be careful of fake news from Pakistan on social media and trust only official sources.
JDU leader Sanjay Jha also gave his opinion. He said, “Operation Sindoor is not over, just paused. We are proud of our Army. People should stay calm and trust our soldiers.”
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav asked Prime Minister Modi to call a special session of Parliament. He said, “We have always trusted our Army. The soldiers answered Pakistan bravely. Now, the Parliament should meet and honor our Army.” He also said this is a time for national unity, not political fights.
The Pahalgam attack, India’s response, and the ceasefire have caused strong political reactions. The opposition says the government is being soft, while the ruling party praises the Army’s bravery and the government’s smart planning. People all over the country are watching closely to see what the government will do next.
