The event started with the hostess, Neha Sareen, speaking a few words on women’s empowerment and how the power of women is significant in Indian mythology in the form of goddesses and their qualities, which help inspire us. The President Mr. Swapnil Kothari who is a professional lawyer, took to the dias as he spoke a few introductory words about the hostess and himself. The Chief Guest Parsoon Das, a Padma Shree award winner, Nandita Das an actress, Shekhar Bajaj, Mickey Mehta, Payal Kothari, Niranjan Jhunjhunwala, Ashok Bhansali, and Amla Ruia were welcomed on the stage. After the dignitaries took to the audience Mr. Kothari congratulated Dr. Mickey Mehta on the grand success of his book ‘Saanyaas in the City’ which was co-authored by Adarsh Gupta, Neha Sareen, and Shikha Mehra. An AV was played which gave the audience a glimpse of what to expect in the guide of a book.
The event was for aid for the V Foundation. The award winners were the Aakar Charitable Trust of Amla Ruia who transformed the lives of 15 lakh thirsty villagers and gave employment to women in the village through animal husbandry. They have also worked towards girl education. Amitabh Shah who is a founder of Yuva Unstobbale also contributed to this initiative. Another receiver of the award was Akshara Centre Foundation’s ‘Jagah Dakhva’ Campaign To Combat Sexual Harassment On State Transport buses.
The next award was received by Zakira Shaikh on behalf of the organization, the Brave Souls Foundation, which is led by acid attack survivors and works towards helping and fighting cases of victims of acid attacks. Anuradha Pal Cultural Foundation (APCF) got the next award for culturally healing people and influencing lives. Anuradha Pal started Stree Shakti an all-women classical music band. She is recognized as Bharat ki Laxmi by Narendra Modi.
All the award winners were applauded for their social. charity and deeds as the stage were seen up for a Fire Side Chat with Payal Kothari, Parsoon Joshi, Nandita Das, and Pheroza Godrej who discussed women’s empowerment and how it should be something that comes naturally and not something which is to be told to do. Dr. Pheroza Gogrej spoke boldly on how women should be able to be comfortable as they are and that mothers should educate boys to behave in the first place. Mrs. Nandita Das boldly stated that well-educated people resort to such vile actions against women and at this point, there is no room left for politeness. She further added that not only mothers but both parents should be equally involved in rearing a well-mannered child.
As the talk ended Shaina NC introduced the fashion show with the aim #glamousforacause where 45 women from different walks of life walked the stage. One notable person who walked the ramp was Dr. Bindu Khurana, a famous numerologist who contributed to renaming the nation name from India to Bharat and also received the Bharat Bhushan award in 2019. Mrs.Sandra Shroff who is. the founder of UPL fastest growing agrochemical company in India walked the ramp. Mrs. Barbabra Sehgal who was the oldest woman to walk the ramp at the show is 86 walked the ramp gracefully in heels. Others present at the ramp were the grandson of Bappi Lahiri, Rego Lahiri, sister of popular actor Siddarth Malhotra Akakanksha Malhotra Agrawal who is an established actress herself. The event ended with a token certificate for all of the participants followedby lunch.
