Varanasi, May 12: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his two-day visit to Varanasi, issued strict directives to officials following the success of ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Holding a high-level law and order review meeting at the Circuit House on Monday, he highlighted the necessity of heightened vigilance against “urban Naxalites” and their associated organizations.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of swift and strict action against criminal activities such as robbery, chain-snatching, cow smuggling, and illegal mining. He directed officials to seize and auction vehicles used in cow smuggling under legal provisions. “There should be no leniency towards such elements. A zero-tolerance policy must be implemented,” he stated.
Adityanath also reviewed ongoing infrastructure and civic projects, including the revival of the Varuna River, the Kajjakpura flyover, and the Ganjari International Cricket Stadium. He stressed the need for speedy completion and warned against delays. The UP State Construction Corporation, UPPCL, PWD, Jal Nigam, and Setu Nigam were asked to improve execution timelines and coordination.
As part of the Safe City initiative, the CM instructed the installation of adequate CCTV cameras and verification of suspicious individuals to bolster urban security. He also emphasized organized public transport facilities by assigning proper locations for bus, taxi, and rickshaw stands to ensure smooth traffic flow.
In rural areas, he directed officials under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ scheme to inspect four villages each and expedite work. Additionally, he called for the timely resolution of revenue disputes and seamless services for birth and death certificates.
Varanasi Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam informed the CM that 60 development projects worth ₹14,000 crore are underway in the district. Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal provided updates on the law-and-order scenario.
