In a remarkable display of military strategy, India successfully deceived Pakistan’s air defence systems during Operation Sindoor. On May 7, 2025, India launched precision strikes against terror targets inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.
To outsmart Pakistan’s defences, the Indian Air Force used dummy fighter jets disguised as real aircraft. These unmanned drones tricked Pakistan’s radar into activating their HQ-9 missile systems, revealing their positions.
This clever ruse allowed India to launch powerful missile strikes, using a variety of advanced missiles:
- BrahMos
- SCALP
- Rampage
- Crystal Maze
The missiles targeted 11 Pakistani airbases, causing significant damage to:
- Airstrips
- Hangars
- Communication networks
As a result, Pakistan was pushed to seek a ceasefire on May 10. Operation Sindoor marked the first combat use of BrahMos missiles and showcased India’s operational excellence in modern warfare.
India has stated that Operation Sindoor is paused but not over, warning that any future terror attacks will be treated as acts of war with serious consequences.
