Infosys Co-founder booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act

Jan 27, 2025, Karnataka: Infosys Co-founder Kris Gopalakrishna has been booked among 17 others for SC/ST Atrocities Act. The private complaint was filed by Durgappa who is a former faculty member at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc)

The complaint alleges that Durgappa had was falsely implicated in a honey trap case in 2014, leading to his dismissal from service and subjecting him to casteist abuse. The complainant, Durgappa belongs to the Bovi community (scheduled caste)

The complainant, Professor D. Sanna Durgappa was formerly working with Centre for Sustainable Technologies had approached the 71st city civil and session court. The case was registered at the Sadashiva Nagar police station in Bengaluru. The case includes former IISc Director Balaram and 16 other individuals as accused.

The court directed the jurisdictional police to register a case and investigate the matter. The case was registered on January 27.

Kris Gopalakrishnan is a notable figure in the Indian technology sector, having served as the CEO and MD of Infosys from 2007 to 2011. He remained a vice chairman from 2011 to 2014 and has been recognized with Padma Bhushan which is India’s third-highest civilian honor.
