Hybrid venues chosen by Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Recently the host country for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy was announced, where the matches are to be held in Pakistan. Initially, it was said that all the matches were to be held in the cities of Pakistan as it’s their home country. When the home country and the match venues were presented to the BCCI by the ICC, the BCCI raised concerns and claimed that they wouldn’t be participating in the tournament for the player’s safety concerns.
As far as concerns the Indian Cricket team stopped touring Pakistan for touring activities from 2008, especially after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. After a statement was released by the chairperson of ICC, Jay Shah, who announced that there would be a neutral venue chosen for all the global activities from 2024-2027 of ICC between India and Pakistan.
After this followed the announcement of the hybrid venues, UAE and Pakistan, saying that all of India’s matches will be held in UAE. This discussion was between the chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, and the minister Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak, keeping the sensitivity of bilateral cricket between both countries. However, the city venue of the match where it is to be held specifically in UAE is still in talks, one out of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai is to be chosen.
