Tragedy Strikes Bihar: Teen Girl, Father Shot Dead at Ara Railway Station; Attacker Commits Suicide

March 26, Ara, Bihar: A horrific incident unfolded at Ara railway station on Tuesday evening when a 16-year-old girl and her father were shot dead by a young man, who later turned the gun on himself. The triple shooting occurred on the footbridge connecting platforms 2 and 3, sending shockwaves through the area.

What Happened?

According to eyewitnesses, the attacker, identified as Aman Kumar (23-24), first shot the girl and then her father before committing suicide. All three died on the spot. The girl, reportedly on her way to board a train to Delhi, was accompanied by her father when the assailant confronted them.

Police Investigation Underway

Bhojpur SP Raj stated that while the exact motive remains unclear, a relationship dispute is suspected.

  • ASP Parichay Kumar confirmed the sequence of events based on eyewitness accounts.
  • RPF Senior Commandant Prakash Panda acknowledged the absence of CCTV cameras on the footbridge but assured that security measures would be reviewed.

A Disturbing Pattern of Violence

This incident follows another shocking crime in Rohtas district, where a father and son allegedly strangled a woman and her daughter for refusing an arranged marriage. Additionally, on March 22, a woman hospital director in Patna was shot dead inside her office.

Public Outrage and Safety Concerns

The lack of surveillance on railway footbridges has raised serious questions about passenger safety. Locals demand:
 Immediate installation of CCTV cameras
Increased police patrolling at railway stations
 Stricter gun control measures

Authorities Respond

While investigations continue, officials have assured the public that security protocols will be strengthened to prevent such tragedies in the future.
