Amul has announced a price reduction of Rs 1 per litre for its one-litre milk packs across India. This move, effective immediately, aims to encourage consumers to opt for larger packs and enjoy cost savings.
“We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by Rs 1 per litre across India,” said GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta. “This initiative incentivizes consumers to buy larger packs, aligning with our commitment to provide value for money.”
In Delhi, the price of Amul Gold milk has dropped from Rs 68 to Rs 67 per litre, while Amul Taaza now costs Rs 55 instead of Rs 56.
GCMMF’s robust performance continues to underscore its dominance in the dairy sector. The cooperative posted an 8% growth in turnover, reaching Rs 59,445 crore in the 2023-24 financial year. With an average milk procurement of 310 lakh litres daily, GCMMF boasts a processing capacity of 500 lakh litres annually.
Globally, GCMMF ranks 8th among the world’s top 20 dairy companies in milk processing, as per the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). The federation, supported by 36 lakh farmers across 18,600 villages in Gujarat, has also made significant inroads internationally. It exports dairy products to 50 countries and recently entered the US market, launching fresh milk variants tailored for Indian expatriates and Asian communities.
With double-digit revenue growth projected for this fiscal, Amul’s price cut reflects its strategic focus on enhancing customer loyalty while solidifying its position as the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative.
