Following the deportation of multiple illegal immigrants, Americans handcuffed some Indians. As a reaction to this, the UK has made its policies on undocumented immigration even stricter. The British Labour Party has now set up a new campaign to systematically raid businesses that are presumed to be illegal immigrant hiring companies.
In January alone, the UK authorities raided 828 establishments, resulting in the arrest of 609 people. British Home Secretary Waite Cooper directly attended these raids, and they included raids on Indian restaurants, nail bars, and car washes, as these are businesses known to hire illegal immigrants.
19,000 Deportations Under Labour Government
Since the Labour Party assumed power, a total of 19,000 illegal immigrants and criminals have been deported, according to Home Secretary Cooper. “Immigration rules must be respected and enforced,” Cooper stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to curbing illegal migration.
Seven Arrested from Indian Restaurant
As part of the recent crackdown, a well-known Indian restaurant in Humberside was raided, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals and the detention of four others. Officials confirmed that the operation was intelligence-led, targeting workplaces suspected of employing illegal workers.
The British government’s strict stance follows similar measures taken by the U.S., where deportations involving handcuffed individuals sparked public outcry. Now, with Britain intensifying its efforts, illegal immigrants in the country are facing increased scrutiny and the risk of deportation.
Authorities have reiterated that businesses must comply with immigration laws, warning that non-compliance will lead to severe penalties. As the crackdown continues, many undocumented workers fear further raids in the coming months.
