28 Dec Saturday, Melbourne: All-rounder from Team India Nitish Reddy brought to the famous ‘Pushpa’ celebration when he got his first half-century in Test cricket on Day 3 of the border Gavaskar Trophy fourth Test. The batsman brought up the landmark in 81 balls. Nistsih Kumar Reddy had a sedating start and is likely to have gotten himself a wicket. He batted through the bouncer barrage on a show for him before he got to playing his shots. In his series, he has scores of 41, 38, 42, 42 and 16 to his name. On the third ball of the 83rd over, NItsih scored a boundary and achieved his half-century achieving his feat in 81 balls.

He later celebrated his accomplishment in style as he mimicked the ‘Thaggede le’ meaning “मैं पीछे नहीं हटूंगा” in Hindi from the movie Pushpa 2. The dialogue is performed throughout the hit movie starter Allu Arjun. Star Sports have posted a video of his celebration on their X (formerly Twitter) handle. The video captures the 21-year-old making a boundary off Mitchell Starc. The video shows his father Mr. Mtalya Reddy getting emotional watching his son accomplish such a feat. He is seen holding hands and getting emotional.

As for his achievements and cricket career, he is now India’s third-highest run-scorer and 5th highest run-scorer in this year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy. The batsman has scored 240 runs in the series at an average of 600 and a strike rate of 70.38. He was on strike with Washington Sundar when the team was 6 wickets down on 191. They build a partnership of over 100 runs to avoid the follow-on. This pair of Sundar and Reddy will continue to have a lot of work to do as India is still over 150 runs behind. The Melbourne pitch has also settled down and is looking good to bat, providing the India batters an opportunity to tire the Ausralia’s pace attacks. Keep Reading Questiqa India for more.
