The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) recorded multiple seismic events the same morning in Tibet’s Xizang region. The initial quake mirrored the one in Nepal in both magnitude and depth. After the 7.1 magnitude shock at 6:35 AM, several aftershocks followed: a 4.7 magnitude quake at 7:02 AM, a 4.9 tremor at 7:07 AM, and a 5.0 earthquake at 7:13 AM, with depths ranging from 7 to 30 kilometers.
Residents in Nepal shared their experiences of the sudden quake. Meera Adhikari, a local, described how she was jolted awake by the shaking bed and window. Fearing the worst, she evacuated with her child. Another resident, Biplov Adhikari, recounted feeling the tremor while in the toilet and hurriedly making his way outside, where his mother also urged him to leave the house. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging the public to remain alert for any aftershocks.
