The Tier 1 examination has vacancies to the tune of 17,727 posts in Groups B and C. Most interesting are the cut-off marks which showed great variations as they varied significantly across categories. The cut-off for general candidates was set at 167.02 marks, slightly lower for SC at 143.54 and ST at 135.23. The normalization was initiated to facilitate equitable assessment across different shifts.
Something new about the announcement is the merit lists made on various categories and posts. It might include different posts like Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator. But now the competition is running very high as the SSC held the results of 146 candidates pending further legal development, adding another factor of anticipation for some.
As things stand, candidates have been gearing up for Tier 2, set to take place on January 18, 19, and 20, 2025. This stage will be specified for skill tests and advanced knowledge tests, thereby qualifying a narrower range of candidates eligible for final recruitment. With time, successful candidates will almost be considerably closer to lucrative positions in government departments.
