February 13, Pooch, Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy Casualties were suffered by the Pakistani Army after provoking the fire along the LOC (Line Of Control) on Wednesday evening in the Mendhar District of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani troops fired 10 to 15 rounds along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector, prompting a strong retaliation from the Indian Army. While the exact damage on the Pakistani side remains unclear, officials reported that the enemy suffered “heavy casualties,” according to PTI.
The ceasefire violation came a day after two Indian Army personnel, including a captain, lost their lives in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by suspected terrorists near the LO-
]C in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector. On February 10, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, assessed security along the LoC in Rajouri district. Accompanied by commanders of the Ace of Spades and Crossed Swords divisions, he reviewed hostile activities and operational readiness in forward areas.
This incident marks the first ceasefire violation of 2024 and the fourth cross-border attack in five days. Ceasefire violations have been rare since India and Pakistan reaffirmed their agreement on February 25, 2021.
Meanwhile, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army sustained minor injuries after accidentally stepping on a landmine while patrolling the Krishna Ghati sector. He was promptly evacuated to a military hospital. In a separate incident, a soldier stationed at a forward post in Rajouri’s Nowshera sector was injured by a bullet fired from across the border.
On February 8, terrorists hiding in a forest near the LoC opened fire on an Army patrol in Rajouri’s Keri sector, allegedly attempting to infiltrate Indian territory. Earlier, during the night of February 4-5, a landmine explosion in Poonch’s Krishna Ghati sector resulted in casualties among terrorists trying to cross into India.
