Thousands of fans gathered to see the iconic actor Allu Arjun. His sudden arrival with his security created a surge in the crowd. Fans pushed to get closer to the actor leading to a stampede inside the theatre auditorium. Revathi and her son got trapped in this stampede and faced injuries. According to the Hyderabad police reports, the woman succumbed to her injuries on the way to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. As for her nine-year-old son, he is under treatment for his injuries.
Two days after the incident Allu Arjun said on Dec 6th that he was “deeply heartbroken and assured the grieving family that he would meet them personally and extend every possible assistance. He announced assistance of Rs. 25 lakhs for the family while promising to take care of the medical expenses of the boy whose condition remained critical. He posted a video with a message written on X (formerly Twitter).
Not only Allu Arjun but the police had detained 3 individuals linked to the theatre’s management. The detained people included M. Sandeep, the owner of the theatre, M. Nagaraju, a senior manager, and Gandhakam Vijay Chander who oversaw the security during the event. Allu Arjun was detained with the charges of Section 118(1) and Section 105 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Others faced charges of Section 105 (right of private defense property), Section 118(1) (concealing plans to commit an offense punishable with death or life imprisonment), and Section 3(5) of BNS. The actor was taken into 14-day judicial custody. He was granted interim bail on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000, he had to spend the night in jail as per the rules. On December 14, 2024, He was released and for the first time broke the silence over the same. Stating that it was a difficult situation for the family and that he has belief in the law.
