January 3, 1978, Haryana: 39th US President Jimmy Carter’s connection to the Haryana Village. Mr Carter, along with his then Lady Rosalynn Carter, travelled to Daulatpur Nasirabad- a village in Haryana which is an hour away from Delhi, which was later on named after him, “Carterpuri”.

The former US President who died at the age of 100 on Sunday night, shared a special connection to India. The Carter center, said that an NGO was found under his name, the visit was so successful that the residents named the place “Caterpuri”, in order to honour the US President. when Mr.Carter won the Nobel Prize in 2002, the villagers organized huge festivals and celebrated this honour. This NGO also remained in contact with the White House for the rest of Mr. Carter’s tenure.

Since the Carter Administration, India-US bilateral relations have been improved and they have worked together on various platforms. In-fact thats where the India-US relations prospered leading in the mid-2000 the countries signed a landmark agreement which stated to work on full Civil Nuclear Cooperation, and bilateral trade has heightened, said the Carter Center.

Jimmy Carter passes away at 100, he’s the most long-lived US President. Carter had been under the hospital care since 2023 in his home in Plains, Georgia – the same town where he was born and raised after he became the governor of the Peach State. The US President Joe Biden also expressed his grievances on him passing away.
