Quetta, March 30: The Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of several Baloch militant groups, has claimed responsibility for 72 coordinated attacks across Balochistan on March 27, marking what they refer to as “Occupation Day.” In a statement, BRAS asserted that these operations resulted in the deaths of 32 Pakistani soldiers and left over 40 injured.
The group stated that the attacks specifically targeted the Pakistani army, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, and state-backed groups. Additionally, government installations, vehicles carrying minerals and energy resources, and other strategic assets were also struck.
Coordinated Attacks and Blockades
The BRAS spokesman, Baloch Khan, detailed the extent of these military operations:
- Road blockades were enforced at more than 30 locations across Balochistan, severely restricting traffic and movement.
- Coastal Highway blockade between Pasni and Ormara, where six Pakistani soldiers were neutralized from buses after identification.
- A Pakistani army vehicle was hit with an IED blast in Gwadar Port Authority, killing five personnel and injuring two.
- A military camp near Gwadar airport was attacked with heavy weapons, causing casualties and material damage.
- A gas tanker carrying LPG was intercepted and set ablaze.
Further, BRAS fighters carried out ambushes and assaults on army camps in Turbat, Kech, and Madagh Kalat, launching rocket and grenade attacks that led to multiple casualties. A Pakistani army convoy in Dal-e-Bazar was also attacked, eliminating three soldiers and injuring six.
Major Clashes and Martyrdom of BRAS Fighter
During the night of March 27, a major clash erupted in Noshki, where BRAS fighter Jahanzeb Mengal alias Balach Jam engaged in a three-hour-long battle against the Pakistani army. He reportedly eliminated eight enemy personnel before succumbing to his injuries.
BRAS also carried out multiple grenade and IED attacks in Karachi, Kalat, and Khuzdar, targeting police stations, government officials, and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) offices. The gas pipeline from Sui to Punjab was blown up, disrupting the energy supply.
The BRAS spokesman emphasized that these attacks were not just symbolic but a continuation of the armed resistance against what they call the Pakistani occupation of Balochistan since 1948. He claimed that the operations demonstrated BRAS’s guerrilla warfare capabilities, reinforcing the narrative that Balochistan remains an occupied territory.
With the escalation of hostilities, the situation in Balochistan remains tense, as security forces scramble to counter these intensified militant operations.
