Addressing the nation in a video link, joined by chief ministers of Telangana, Odisha, and Jammu and Kashmir, along with other dignitaries, Modi highlighted the paradigm shift in India’s rail network. “People increasingly want to cover long distances in less time,” he said, citing the success of the Vande Bharat trains. “The time when the first bullet train will run in India is not far.”
Over 136 Vande Bharat trains are operational across 50 routes, setting new benchmarks in passenger comfort and speed. Modi pointed to a recent trial run where the train achieved a speed of 180 km/h, showcasing the rapid advancements in rail technology.
Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to “new-age connectivity,” with rail modernization being a key pillar. Projects launched on Monday aim to enhance passenger service, connect remote regions, and bolster employment and industrial growth. “The entire country is moving forward in lockstep. This is ‘sabka sath, sabka vikas,'” he said, reiterating his inclusive development vision.
The prime minister also highlighted the expansion of India’s Metro network, a critical component of urban mobility. With India maintaining a fast pace in connectivity improvements, Modi declared that the nation’s image and morale had been significantly uplifted.
